Banglalink paid Tk 14 crore to BTRC in third phase

Mobile operator Banglalink has paid Tk 78 crore to the regulator in three phases of audit objections. The operator paid Tk 14 crore in the third phase on Monday to pay the dues to BTRC in a continuous manner from Tk 811 crore 31 lakh 56 thousand 173.

Earlier, on July 27 this year, Banglanglink had paid Tk 50 crore in the first phase and Tk 14 crore in the second phase.

On June 26 this year, the BTRC gave the operator time for 10 days to pay the audit objection dues. On July 27, they went to BTRC to pay Tk 50 crore from the arrears with some conditions. That day, the BTRC did not accept the condition and gave time for three days, and on July 30, the audit sent a letter to Banglalink seeking the full amount of the audit objection. In the afternoon, Banglalink again took Tk 50 crore. Then BTRC accepted the money without taking into account any conditions from Banglalink. The money was taken as part of the 2G license due to the audit objections.

Meanwhile, Banglalik had written to the BTRC to pay a total of Tk 427 crore 73 lakh 23 thousand 819 including the original amount of Tk 380 crore 58 lakh 57 thousand 112 and other fees of Tk 47 crore 14 lakh 66 thousand 667. In the interim, the operator is paying Tk 227 crore 73 lakh 23 thousand 819 in a phased manner without any condition from the main dues. They had written a letter saying that they would pay the remaining Tk 200 crore after the late fee and interest deduction.

According to the BTRC's Finance, Accounts and Revenue Department, the amount of arrears to mobile operators is Tk 7,692.67 crore. Of this, Grameenphone has the highest dues of Tk 6,101.81 crore. Banglalink is in second place with the dues of Tk 880.15 crore. Robi Axiata owes Tk 539.76 crore and Citycell owes Tk 170.95 crore. Besides, state-owned Teletalk owes Tk 127.36 crore.
